How to Donate to Animal Rescue

Why should you help this animal rescue organization?

Since 1981, The World Society for the Protection of Animals is fighting for a dream where animal welfare matters and animal cruelty ends.

Having successfully eradicated the practice of Bear Dancing in Greece and Turkey (this would be impossible without the generosity of their supporters), WSPA is now hoping to bring an end to the inhumane industry of Bear Bile Farming.

Why are bears farmed for their bile? According to traditional Chinese medicine, bear bile can cure many human ailments ranging from fevers to heart disease.

The methods used in extracting the bile from the bears are a cause of major concern and needs to be remedied as soon as possible to end the suffering.

If they manage to survive the procedure to access their bile duct, a farmed bear may live up to ten years. These ten years will be spent in a squalid cage and permanent agony.

As his gall bladder is drained of bile, the bear often cries out in agony as the wound in his side is reopened. The extraction of the bile can occur up to twice a day.

Stressed and underfed, this bear’s life is one of relentless suffering.

This is the grim reality of the Bear Farming Industry. Highly profitable, it occurs throughout Asia. Over 12,000 bears continue to suffer in Asia.

The farming of bears for the bile is one of the most intense forms of animal suffering that exists today.
